Gym Myths And Motivation

Date Added: April 09, 2009 02:42:33 PM

With the summer getting closer now, more and more people decide to head back to a fitness club or a gym to loose some weight or gain some muscles before the hot and sunny days are back.

But you need to know that there are a lot of things that are not entirely true and are often called exercise myths.

Whether you go to a Vauxhall gym, a Guildford gym or any other place in the United Kingdom or anywhere else in the world, I am sure you know those myths without knowing that they are not true.

One of the best known myths is the spot reduction one. You need to be aware that spot reduction does not work when you go to the gym and the only way to loose weight at a particular point is to use liposuction. As fat belongs to the whole body and not only a part of it, working out on a part of your body is going to increase your muscles but not work on the fat.

Another interesting wrong fact is to wear a lot of clothes while doing sport or working out to burn more fat. Well as a matter of fact, doing so will only make you sweat and loose more water and decrease your stamina which will certainly not help you loose any fat there.

I am sure the next myth will be even more interesting. Cellulite does not exist. It is just a lot of fat. So if you want to loose it, just try to lose body fat and it will work.

In the end, believing in all those myths will not do you any harm when you go to the gym. But it is useful to know all that and to stop wasting your time doing something that does not work anyway.

It is very important to keep motivated and stick to your program. By doing so you will soon realise that you have lost weight or gained muscles. It is true though that keeping your motivation after a few months is difficult. You need to set yourself achievable goals to help you going. Whatever they are, goals are always a good way to motivate yourself. Another good way to keep you motivated is to find someone to go to the gym or exercise with. It is especially important during those cold rainy months where you’d prefer to stay home than go outside to your gym.
